The sun is wearing the moon's dress
this morning.  Pale white, she stands
up against the wall, as the gray-clad

clouds waltz around her.  For a moment,
her sheer white light radiates – exposes
all – the dancers part and every eye is averted

or else blinded. She retreats, biding her time,
waiting to cast off her thin disguise and
rise above it all in her own golden gown.
